In order to study the implications of deploying an outdoor wireless monitoring system, developing a simulation model can be the more convenient approach in terms of estimating the system response for more complex scenarios. Using a simulated framework, we try to develop more effective algorithms and to predict the behavior of the entire WSN when confronted with different situations. The goal of our work is to test our algorithms in a simulated environment so that we can more accurately predict the behavior of the entire system in a real life scenario. For our experiments, we had in mind a real network composed of mobile platforms equipped with sensors which can collaboratively estimate environmental parameters like temperature, humidity, pressure and sunlight inside a predetermined perimeter delimited by its GPS coordinates.
