Abstrakt: Based on the success of the In-flight Lightning Strike Damage Assessment System (ILDAS) project launched within the scope of the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Commission and completed in July 2009, the results described in this paper form part of the ILDAS2 project initiated by Airbus Operations SAS in partnership with EADS IW and NLR. The principle aim of ILDAS2 project is to develop a system installed aboard an aircraft in order to determine the level, the current waveform and the attachments points of a lightning strike during an aircraft flight. The expectations linked to ILDAS2, the functional architecture of the system, the status and the projection of this development will be presented. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
