Abstrakt: While conventional GPR investigations are carried out on the surface/ 2D plane, delivering 2D information, Borehole Radar is applied in a 3D space. A borehole radar system for a total 3D space investigation has to distinguish between the directions around the tool axis to allow a 3D interpretation of the data. During the past decade a powerful tool was developed and applied by DMT which allows the exploration of the salt dome interior by borehole radar wireline service. The tool series differs much from conventional borehole radar, because it is adapted to the rough environment of wireline logging. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
