Abstrakt: The triode operation at single and repetitive pulses has been studied on a set-up which is schematically given in Fig. 1. A cathode-grid element of design similar to that described in [1] is mounted in a metal vacuum volume having high-voltage leads of cathode- and grid electrodes. A negative voltage square pulse up to 80 kV is made on the cathode by a shaping circuit consisting of a 2 μ F two-step voltage pulse generator (VPG) whose one switch is a GMI-18A tube and another an uncontrolled spark gap, of a modulator with partially discharged capacity whose switch is a GMI-14B tube, of a submodulator with controllable pulse duration and of a timer controlling pulse repetition rate and number.
