The article discusses the changing economic situation of family farms in the Mank and Mödling districts of Lower Austria, Austria, primarily in the second half of the 20th century. The authors address such factors as rural economic development, the agricultural policies of the Austrian government, and the types of farms involved, ranging from dairy farming to forestry. Trends such as the commercialization of agriculture, a greater reliance on technological innovations, and economic concentration in the agriculture industry are also considered. |
