The article provides an in-depth analysis of the U.S. federal debt from 2002 to 2011. It explores the debt limit crisis in 2002 which was solved by the signing into law of a supplemental appropriations bill, H.R. 4775. It discusses the factors that led to the debt limit increases in 2008, 2009 and 2010 which include the U.S. government's efforts to move the economy out of a recession. It also explains how the economic recession from 2007 to 2009 has affected the federal deficit. |
