Abstrakt: The article discusses the effect of eccentric hamstring strengthening exercises on the thigh muscles of male professional soccer players as observed with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Imaging of the subjects before and after performing leg curl and lunge exercises indicated load-related changes in the semitendinosus, adductor magnus, and biceps femoris long head muscles. It is suggested that the results can applied to the prevention and treatment of acute hamstring injuries.
