The article examines the disciplinary core ideas in physical science education as outlined in the science education standards publications "A Framework for K-12 Science Education" and the "Next Generation of Science Standards" (NGSS) from the National Research Council (NRC). Noted core ideas include matter and its interaction, energy, and motion and stability, as the author states that such concepts will assist students in explaining phenomena, problem solving, and adequate learning.
