Production Potency of Folate, Vitamin B12, and Thiamine by Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Japanese Pickles.

Abstrakt: The article reports on a study regarding potency of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) to produce vitamin B12, thiamine and folate extracellularly. It also examines association of vitamin production with tolerance of LAB to salts, ethanol and temperature. It mentions that only three strains of LAB produced high yield of extracellular folate while none of the strain produced high yield of thiamine and there was no significant relationship between vitamin production and tolerance of LAB was observed.
