The article presents updates on amateur radio as of March 2013. The number of amateur radio operators in the U.S. reportedly has grown at a steady rate since 1973. Joaquim Barbosa was issued a Forfeiture Order by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for violating Section 301 of the Communications Act of 1934. Iceland's Post and Telecom Administration (PTA) extended temporary permits on 160 meters, 60 meters, and four meters effective January 1.
