Abstrakt: The article presents a Congressional Research Service report (CRS) on the history of U.S. policy towards Burma and the development of U.S. sanctions on Burma. It states that the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama has waived many sanctions specifically imposed on Burma since December 2011 to promote greater political and economic reform in the country. U.S. sanctions on Burma can be categorized into visa bans, restrictions on financial services, and constraints on assistance to Burma.
