Abstrakt: The article discusses John Milton's bilingualism and biculturalism during his Italian sojourn where he adapted easily to the new environs while maintaining and reinventing his cultural identity. It talks about "Ad Salsillum" which portrays Milton as the nursling of London, and "Mansus" where he was called the young foreigner sent from the Hyperborean skies. It also discusses the parallel between the Miltonic smile from heaven and that of Giambattista Marino.
