The article presents a preliminary evaluation of the General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) of England and Scotland, and their impact on patient care. The study involves a cross-sectional survey of patients with different eye problems conducted by local community optometrists. It states that there is no big difference between the English and Scottish ophthalmic services, but the effectiveness of the English system could mean more costs for its patient or the primary care trust (PCT). |
