This paper summarises research into the physical and chemical effects of molten salt flux on the formation and quality of welded joints in thin-sheet aluminium alloys. The research revealed the dependence of the physical and chemical properties of the fluxes on their chemical compositions and the influence of these properties on the quality and characteristics of aluminium alloys welds. In particular, the chemical composition of flux required to obtain optimal physical and chemical properties and ensure high quality welded joints was determined. Moreover, recommendations and requirements were given for the chemical composition and physical and chemical properties of the fluxes, which should be used for welding in inert gas (TIG, MIG, etc.) of thin-sheet aluminium alloys. Flux action mechanisms were proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
