The article looks at technology used by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) to determine how noise travels through various landscapes and impacts species and ecosystems. Information is provided on a tool known as SPreAd-GIS, which uses spatial data layers to monitor sound and the effect of vegetation, terrain, and weather. Comments from WCS scientist Sarah Reed on how exposure to human-caused noise can result in a loss of biodiversity are also covered. |
