| Abstrakt: | The article focuses on Arab rules of etiquette pertaining to illness or death. Arab culture places special emphasis on the visitation and care of the sick as demonstrated by strong familial ties and respect for elders. Reactions to illness include empathy, hope, pessimism, and even mortification. It is argued that rules of etiquette make difficult situations more emotionally charged. |
