Abstrakt: The article investigates the role of parental media preferences and intergenerational transmission of book reading and television viewing habits on children's tastes. It discusses the role of parental social status, parental media example, and media guidance in childhood on adult preferences in media. It utilized the Family Survey of the Dutch Population and structural equation models. It addresses the importance of media socialization and socioeconomic status on intergenerational effects of media preferences.
