The article describes the case of a cervical-carcinoma patient who was advised to receive intracavitary brachytherapy (ICBT). The integration of brachytherapy with external-beam radiotherapy is said to be a requirement for successful radiotherapy for cervical carcinoma. ICBT involves the irradiation of the accessible utero-cervical cavity by the placement of applicators to facilitate radioactive-source loading. |
