| Abstrakt: |
This paper describes the modifications made to a BioRad EM-1 UV detector for use in a radioactive material handling hot cell. A 5m cable has been built to allow the control unit to remain outside of the hot cell while the optics unit resides inside the hot cell. A USB data acquisition and control device has also been added to the control unit, allowing for PC control of the instrument and reading UV signals without the need to choose a pre-determined absorbance range, maximizing the dynamic range of measured absorbance.
