Abstrakt: The article focuses on a study conducted in the Wisconsin to examine the association of regular use of aspirin drug with incidence of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The study employed the Beaver Dam Eye Study which is a longitudinal population-based study of age-related eye diseases in which adult population was examined at a regular interval of five years over a 20-year period. The results of the study showed that use of aspirin five years prior to retinal examination was not associated with incidence of either late or early AMD. It has been concluded that regular aspirin use 10 years prior to examination was associated with small but statistically significant incidence of late and neovascular AMD.
