The article assesses the Machine Model (MM) test for component electrostatic discharge (ESD) qualification. It compares MM with other ESD qualification test methods, such as human-body (HBM) and charged-device model (CDM) and offers information on why MM is being discontinued. It discusses the positions of standards bodies in the electronics industry on MM and argues that it is not necessary for integrated circuit qualification. |
