The article offers information on the study based on association of warfarin treatment regarding several complications related to bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement (AVR) surgery including risk of thromboembolic complications, bleeding incidents and cardiovascular deaths. It says that Danish National Patient Registry, a medical record collection, was used to fulfill the purpose of study under which patients with bioprosthetic AVR surgery performed between the years January 1997 to 2009 were used as subjects. It also mentions of the Poisson regression models that were used for the risk analysis of the procedures. It concludes that increased cardiovascular death was a consequence of the warfarin discontinuation within 6 months after bioprosthetic AVR surgery. |
