The article offers information on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette archaeology field school which excavated the Portage Mounds site in St. Martin Parish. It informs that in the excavation, several amphibian and reptile bones were identified along with other vertebrate bones. It was concluded that such finding of specimens must have been a part people's diet at Portage Mounds during early Coles Creek times. |
