Abstrakt:	The article discusses the complexity of relationship between early caliphs and Muslim scholars. It cites the book "God's Caliph" and refutes the central arguments presented in it which confers exclusive authority in the hands of the caliph and also informs that the caliph-scholar relationship was marked by struggle. The arguments about caliph-scholar relationship were unsuccessful, because they fail to provide accurate definitions of key terms used throughout their work.
