The author suggests amendments to the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC-PNDT)(Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, so that radiologists alone do not have to burden the responsibility of female foeticide. The stringency as far as documentation is concerned should be relaxed. Operating an unregistered center using ultra sonography (USG) machines should be considered a major offence. Medical personnel performing illegal abortions should be brought to book. |
