The finite-difference time-domain method is being used to calculate transmission through nanoscale quantum structures. This is determined by first taking the Fourier transform of a waveform before it enters a channel and then taking the Fourier transform of the portion of the waveform that is transmitted through the channel. By storing the time-domain waveforms at the input and output, a very small total problem space is required. This is significant, because it is intended that this one-dimensional method be extended to three dimensions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
