Abstrakt:	The article explores the role of erythropoietin (Epo) in anemia of premature infants. Topics discussed include the function of the Epo gene to regulate oxygen delivery, the Epo responsiveness of erythroid progenitor cells and the efficacy of rEpo therapy in the treatment of anemia. Also mentioned are the adverse effects of blood transfusion including fluid overload.
