Abstrakt: The article responds to a study by theoretical philosopher Markus Wild, whose views on the similarities between human and animal cognition are examined by the author. Discussion focuses on Wild's views concerning intentionality and cognition as human characteristics, the linguistic and philosophical implications of calling human beings animals, and the relations between reflexes and decisive action. The author especially critiques Wild's extension of thought to some but not all animals.
