Lactate dehydrogenase isoenzymes have been measured in human hearts at autopsy. As compared with normal hearts, hypertrophic hearts and ischaemic hypertrophic hearts showed a shift in the isoenzyme distribution. This shift appeared to be more closely associated with an increase in the relative proportion of fibrous tissue than with changes in the myocardial cells. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
