Abstrakt: In various arrhythmias, the jugular venous flow velocity curve was externally recorded with a directional Doppler flowmeter, and characteristic anomalies of the tracing were pointed out, providing in some cases a useful diagnostic clue. The possibility of a diastolic tricuspid regurgitation in case of atrial fibrillation, A-V block, and premature beats is discussed. The transcutaneous Doppler flowmeter appears to offer a new approach to the physiopathological study of venous return as well as a diagnostic method in the case of arrhythmias.
