Abstrakt: Addition of sulfhydryl inhibitors to the plasma from which clots were formed in vitro renders them soluble in urea and monochloroacetic acid solutions and increases their susceptibility to lysis by fibrinolytic agents. To test this observation in vivo,p-chloromercuribenzoic acid (p-CMB) was infused alone or simultaneously with Thrombolysin in dogs 4 hr after a platelet coronary thrombus was formed. In animals infused simultaneously with p-CMB and Thrombolysin there was a thrombolytic effect. Of a total of 26 dogs receiving Thrombolysin, significant haemorrhage was observed in only two and there was no mortality. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
