Abstrakt: Ventricular arrhythmias and mortality of acute experimental myocardial infarction were associated with myocardial K+ loss, Na+ gain, and water accumulation. Lidocaine at low doses was unable to correct arrhythmia or myocardial K+ loss. A high dose of lidocaine was effective in reducing mortality and arrhythmia, and an associated improvement in the electrolyte abnormality was seen. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
