Vertebral and carotid blood distribution in the brain of dogs and cats was studied with radioactive microspheres. The most pronounced difference between these species was that in the cat, the pontomedullary region received in an absolute sense, and compared to the thalamus and hypothalamus, significantly more blood from the vertebral artery than in the dog.
