| Abstrakt: |
Using radioisotopic techniques, haem synthesis has been studied in human and pig cardiac muscle. High levels of haemsynthetase and δ-aminolaevulic acid dehydrase have been demonstrated, and newly-formed haem has been traced to myoglobin. The effect of iron upon these enzymes has been studied, and the relevance of these findings to iron storage diseases is discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
