Abstrakt: | The article discusses research investigating the relationship between metabolic syndrome (MetSyn) and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in firefighters. The authors note that cardiovascular disease (CVD) occurs primarily in firefighters with high CVD risk factors in patterns resembling metabolic syndrome (MetSyn). Researchers found a higher prevalence of MetSyn in firefighters who scored low on a maximal exercise tolerance test (METS) versus colleagues in the high fitness category. |
