The article examines the developments of the U.S. Army Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The program was established to reduce the number of Army members who are alcohol and drug offenders through more effective techniques. Several factors were associated for the decrease of the incidence and prevalence of Army drug abuse including education of potential users, efforts of discovering the abusers, strengthening of law enforcement surveillance, and attempts to dissuade users from possible involvement. |
