The article presents a translation of an interview with Spanish filmmaker Basilio Martin Patino conducted at the Mediterranean Film Festival in Montpellier, France on October 31, 2006. He discusses his motivation for making films about the Spanish Civil War, and special attention is paid to "Caudillo," his documentary on Spanish dictator Francisco Franco. Other topics include censorship, his film "Madrid," and the Spanish public's reception of films about the Spanish Civil War. |
