Simulation-Based Education with Mastery Learning Improves Paracentesis Skills.

Abstrakt: The article presents a study which examines the efficacy of simulation-based education with mastery learning on internal medicine residents' paracentesis skills. The study used a high fidelity, ultrasound-compatible paracentesis simulator to assess procedural skills of 58 first-year internal medicine residents who completed a mastery learning-based intervention. The study found that paracentesis skills of residents have improved and they met or exceeded the minimum passing score (MPS).
