Abstrakt: A discussion by historians including Rachel Hope Cleves, Nicole Eustace, and Paul Gilje regarding the bicentennial of the War of 1812 between the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain is presented. Topics considered include differing public approaches to the history of the War in the U.S. and Canada, the historiography and collective memory of the War, and issues associated with teaching the War. Also discussed in the regional impact of the War on areas such as New England, Quebec, and the Southeastern U.S., how the War of 1812 marked a turning point between the American Republican and Antebellum eras, and the impact of the War on Indian relations and slavery.
