The article describes the model for critical literacy called The Look and the Book. The author describes the model as suitable for students in primary schools and has the ability to help students distinguish between two aspects of a text. She explains that the model utilizes short, memorable word cues to denote two different ways of reading a text. The first part is the Look which requires students to describe the textual signifier, while the Book refers to the implied meanings, she explains. |
