Abstrakt: The article discusses water laws and rights in Idaho as of November 2012, focusing on a historical overview of the forfeiture of water rights as addressed in the legal cases of Smith v. Hawkins, Zezi v. Lightfoot, and Lindblom v. Round Valley Water Co. Idaho's Water Code reportedly contains a forfeiture statute which was modeled after the provisions of the Wyoming Water Code. The court in Zezi deals with the abandonment of a water right due to lack of use over a five year period.
