Abstrakt: The article focuses on the museum collections in ornithology, which recorded avian biodiversity for the future. It states that the museum collections which underpin all classifications of birds and understanding of changes in their populations have played a significant role in the study of avian biology. It says that the advent of the theory of evolution by natural selection in July 1858 served as repositories of the evidence for and results of evolution. It adds that the museum collections of natural history specimens became useful for the aristocracy and curious natural historians.
