In this article, the author reflects on how architects and local officials are responding to the population boom taking place in North Dakota as the result of oil fracking in the early twenty-first century. Particular focus is given to the lack of housing available in towns such as Williston and Dickinson, who are absorbing the majority of worker populations. The architectural boom taking place as result is discussed in detail, and deals with developments in housing, hotels and restaurants. |
