Calculation of water exit velocity from the nozzle is critical for predicting accurate water droplet size and droplet penetration length. Laboratory test was conducted to collect pressure drop versus water flow rate information. Stroke length and exit velocity of water were not measured directly in the lab test. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation in conjunction with Lab test data are used for developing a mathematical correlation for calculating clearance in nozzle and water exit velocity. Validation of developed correlation is done with test and CFD results and it matches very well. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
