It is estimated that close to 1.5 million men and women will be diagnosed with cancer and over 500,000 will die of cancer in 2010 (http://seer.cancer.gov/). While scientific discovery has begun to uncover mechanisms of both tumor initiation and tumor maintenance, these discoveries have until recently been slow to be translated into effective treatments that significantly change cancer death statistics.
