Abstrakt: Many of the pediatric applications of PET-CT have been inferred from the success of FDG PET and PET-CT in adults. Other than the overlap with certain adult malignancies, there have been very few PET clinical trials in pediatric oncology. PET-CT increasingly plays an integral role in the initial staging of lymphomas. Rhabdomyosarcoma and other soft tissue sarcomas have been shown to be FDG avid, and PET-CT is a useful adjunct for initial diagnosis and staging as well as in the detection of recurrent disease. Integration of PET-CT into pediatric oncology imaging algorithms has been slow, but continues to advance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
