Diversity is of fundamental importance to the educational mission of schools of public health. Effectively training public health professionals who are adequately prepared to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse nation, necessitates student bodies and curricula of educational institutions that reflect and are responsive to diversity. Diversity is not an end in itself, it is essential that professionals have personal as well as academic experience to deal with the disparities in health access and health outcomes experienced by persons with disabilities.
