Abstrakt: Leiomyosarcomas of the broad ligament are very rare; 19 cases have been already reported in the English literature. We report a 53 year-old patient with a primary metastatic leiomyosarcoma of the broad ligament. The patient underwent total abdominal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, resection of residual tumor with omental and peritoneal biopsies followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. Patient was asymptomatic with no signs of recurrence after nine months follow up. The management of leiomyosarcomas of the broad ligament is still controversial. Excision of the tumor, total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, along with adjuvant chemotherapy and/or radiation are advocated to optimize disease free survival. In this report we discuss our patient along with the review of the current literature in terms of clinical, therapeutic, and histological features of this rare tumor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
