Focuses on a study which investigated the evolution of damage in polycrystalline aluminum oxide samples by soft-recovery plate impact experiments. Examination of the recovered samples by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy; Measurement of velocity and time profiles at the rear surface of the momentum trap; Discussion on the effects of grain size and glass content on the resistance of the sample to damage. |
