Abstrakt: Describes a method for fabricating a uniformly thick solid- or liquid-fuel layer inside an inertial confinement fusion target, which employs a cold helium-gas-jet shower to uniformly cool a target and an intenity-graded illumination. Description of an optimal configuration for high-compression, direct-drive inertial confinement fusion; Components of the gas jet assemblies; Test conducted to prove the flexibility of the gas jet apparatus.
